Our History

DadsWork was set up in 2003 when it was established that there was a lack of services supporting dads.

DadsWork received Scotland’s largest award of £70,000 from BBC Children in Need in 2005 to employ staff and establish DadsWork as a Community project supporting dads, male care givers in East Lothian.

In 2008 DadsWork was successful in securing 5 years funding of £256,328 from the Big Lottery Fund Investing in Communities and additionally received 5 years funding 0f £71,000 from The Robertson Trust.

Additionally we received £10,000 from Awards for All Scotland to purchase a Family Caravan.

East Lothian Council have funded DadsWork since 2014.

DadsWork has received additional funding in the 12 years allowing the service to continue and develop to becoming the only service in East Lothian dedicated to supporting dads and male care givers in East Lothian, supporting  and empowering men to be the best fathers they can be.

Strengthening the relationship between dads, male carer givers and their children enriching their communities.
